From the Minister of Youth
Well it seems as if the time is upon us, that time for a 'see ya later' to be said. I have to admint that this is a sad but also joyous occasion for me. For every struggle that I've ad while here at FBC Weaverville I have recieved two-fold in blessings and encouragement from this church family. This is truly a blessed place and you all will hold a dear spot in my heart from this day forward.
I must admit that the past two and a half years seem to have gone by like a wildfire. A total of 13 youth have graduated from high school during that time, some of whom I was able to build deep and hopefully lasting relationships. We have had two mission trips to Chicago, one trip to Camp Caswell, two local mission retreats, two trips to Pigeon Forge or conferences, three youth rallies, several fifth quarters after home football games, and countless Manna Mondays, some of which my arteries will still remember for years to come. I say all this not to play a cheap game of numbers, as if ministry is only successful when we are doing a lot, but to say that I will take many memories with me. I say this also to say that you all have allowed me to take part in the ministries of this church and the lives of your young people, and for that I am extremely grateful.
But as we all know, times do change, and with my graduation from Mars Hill College I find myself answering the call to go to Ecuador, and hopefully to find exactly where God is leading me in His world. I thank you all for all the memories and all the good times and also for being formative in my journey with Christ. This congregation has played a huge part in my education and in my discipleship, and I am deeply grateful. I do want to stay in touch. I will love to communicate with anyone through email at blake.hart@hotmail.com and I will be updating a website with stories and prayer requests at www.blakehart.blogspot.com . And may I say in closing, "Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love; the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above." Gracias, y Dios te bendiga. (Thanks, and God Bless you).
In Christ,
Blake Hart
